HYDROELECTRIC POWER GENERATION

We provide scientific and technical expertise to support removal and replacement options for existing structures of Generating Stations. Our key fisheries and environmental services allow for an extensive characterization of the river in the vicinity of Generating Stations. We collect and summarize water chemistry, sediment chemistry, macrophytes, benthic macroinvertebrate communities, physical river characteristics, fish communities, and fish habitat, including spawning habitat for key species such as Walleye and Lake Sturgeon.

We work closely with hydrodynamic modelling specialists to analyze the resultant potential for changes to critical habitat expected based on different operating scenario alternative that considers varying water levels and flow regimes. We can support our clients from the Environmental Assessment and Permitting support stage through to operational monitoring.
